LAMTEC Newsletter November 2021

In  addition to the LAMTEC transmitter LT1, we have now also been able to certify the LAMTEC transmitters LT2 and LT3 in combination with the O2 / COe combination probe KS1D against SIL1 in accordance with DIN EN 61508: 2011. This was achieved by careful selection of high-quality parts and components in our measuring systems, with which the SIL1 level could be calculated. In contrast to many other manufacturers, LAMTEC not only relies on certification based on “good experience” with the products, but can even prove the safety requirement level mathematically.

Safety Integrity Level SIL1 can be necessary in particular when it comes to applications with safety-relevant functions, for example in process technology, in which failures are to be avoided. With the LT2 or LT3 in combination with the KS1D combination probe, our most popular measuring systems are also suitable for this area of application without any further devices - and all of this at no additional cost!

To maintain the SIL1 certification, the probe must be replaced any 3 years.

"Change is the only constant", says the proverb. Unfortunately, we are forced to discontinue the hand control unit for the ETAMATIC OEM.

We have made the decision to discontinue the handheld programming unit (Part Number 663R0932). This unit was developed over 15 years ago to enable users to make adjustments to the ETAMATIC OEM without the use of a PC. It is now commonplace for commissioning and service engineers to use the remote software which provides a much more flexible and comprehensive way to set-up and maintain the ETAMATIC OEM. The remote software is also more versatile and can be used with other products such as the standard ETAMATIC, FMS, VSM and FA1.

As a result of the trend toward using the remote software the number of programming units being sold has fallen sharply. In addition, some of the components used in the manufacture of the product have become obsolete.

We still have some stock of the programming units so any customers wishing to make a ‘last buy purchase’ have the opportunity to do so. Please contact verkauf(at)lamtec.de for further details.

The 660R0030 relay module was used or switching fuel actuators (e.g. oil/gas) in the FMS and VMS burner controllers.

For FMS/VMS, the number of actuator outputs was limited to 5. For some applications, it was useful to be able to employ an additional channel by switching the fuel outputs that were not needed on the same fuel curveset.

The CMS is the successor to the FMS/CMS, and is now well established on the market. The CMS can be configured to include up to 10 channels eliminating the need to switch channels to overcome limitations.

We have therefore decided to discontinue the 660R0030 module at the end of 2021.
For existing systems, the supply of spare parts is ensured until further notice.

More uncomplicated and faster product selection - that is our vision for our measurement systems. The discontinuation of our flue gas bypass tube for our HT probe is a further step in the restructuring of our product portfolio for our gas extraction.

As already announced in the newsletter of May 2021, the advantages of the all-rounder among our gas extraction devices, the GED FLEX, clearly outweigh those of the flue gas bypass tube. The flue gas bypass tube is therefore no longer available with immediate effect and, if necessary, can be easily replaced by the GED FLEX in existing systems. The already installed counter flange does not have to be replaced and can be reused.

Advantages of GED FLEX can be found in following overview:

From now on, our gas extraction devices are based only on the three different types GED ECO, GED BASE and GED FLEX, which are perfectly tailored to their respective applications.

Of course, we continue to offer special solutions for applications in which, despite the high number of possible applications of the KS1D / LS2 probe, wishes should still remain unanswered.

Easier and faster product selection - that is our vision for our measuring systems.
The downsizing of our “real” insitu probe portfolio, the so-called K-probes, is a further step in the restructuring of the product portfolio of our measurement devices.

In the pursuit of constant optimization, many specific so-called "real" in-situ probes for KS1D / LS2 sensors have been developed in the course of LAMTEC's history, which are located directly in the exhaust gas without gas extraction device and are particularly suitable for high-dust applications. This resulted in the very extensive portfolio of K probes, from which LAMTEC was able to generate a lot of practical experience. Based on this experience, we are now able to combine all the optimizations made in just one K-probe and thus improve the range of functions and product selection.

In future, the real Insitu probes will therefore focus on the LS2 / KS1D - KAF type. All other KS1D / LS2 probes of the types K, KA, KHD, KR and KV have thus been discontinued and are only available for the aftermarket.

The advantages of the KS1D / LS2 - KAF probe are summarized in the following overview:

The advantages of the KS1D / LS2 KAF are particularly evident in dusty exhaust gases. For most other applications it is recommended to consider one of our three gas extraction devices, GED ECO, GED BASE and GED FLEX.

The KAF probe is not compatible with the counter flange of the other K types and requires a flange of type DN80 PN6.

Of course, we also continue to offer special solutions for dusty applications where, despite the high product maturity of the LS2 / KS1D - KAF probe, wishes should still remain open.

that our Lambda Sensor LS1, co-developed in the 1980s by our managing director Harald Weber, still offers an undisputed high accuracy in the entire range of 0...21% O2?!
